Homework for Healthy Muscles and Bones This School Year

Children are back in school and ready for another year of learning. Binders, pencils and notebooks are all common-sense gear, but what about tools to protect their muscles and bones as they grow? The NIAMS is here to help. From information on preventing sports injuries in youth to questions and answers about sprains and strains for all ages, the NIAMS has resources to share with your community to promote a healthy school year. Share the knowledge!

NIAMS Interns Share Their 2017 Summer Experiences

The NIAMS offers a Summer Research Internship Program on the National Institutes of Health (NIH) campus in Bethesda, Maryland, that provides outstanding opportunities for high school, undergraduate, graduate and medical students contemplating a career in biomedical research or academic medicine. Our 2017 summer interns received career mentoring from NIAMS researchers, attended lectures and symposia, engaged in basic and clinical research and gained notable experience that will help shape their career goals. Our interns described their experiences in their own words.

NEW! Health Information Basics in Asian Languages

The NIAMS recently added two new Asian-language titles to its popular “Health Information Basics” series. The resources Living With Arthritis and Living With Lupus are now available online in Chinese, Korean and Vietnamese. The resources, designed for patients and their families, present basic information about lupus and arthritis in a simple, easy-to-read format and provide helpful tips on how to cope with these conditions.
