Are you planning outreach efforts or community events this spring? The resources below can help you educate your patients and community members about bone, joint, muscle and skin health.

May Is National Asian American/Pacific Islander Heritage Month

Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders are a diverse group with many different cultures, languages and customs and a deep sense of history that honors family and community. Some people in these groups may be at increased risk for certain health conditions, such as lactose intolerance, osteoporosis and lupus. Help us educate these communities about conditions that can affect them by sharing health resources in their preferred language. Please visit the NIAMS Asian-Languages Resources portal to access downloadable materials in Chinese, Korean and Vietnamese.

June Is National Men’s Health Month

National Men’s Health Month is an opportunity to raise awareness of health problems that affect men and boys and encourage them to seek regular medical advice and early treatment for disease and injury.

Check out our Health Information for Men page for resources to help men stay healthy and manage conditions that affect their bones, joints, muscles and skin.

The National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities (NIMHD) has a new resource for people who work with health disparity populations with limited English proficiency—the Language Access Portal (LAP).

The LAP contains information, in multiple languages, for six disease areas where major health disparities have been identified in non-English-speaking populations. Disease areas currently include cancer, diabetes, cardiovascular disease and more. New disease areas and resources will be added as they become available, including conditions related to the bones, joints, muscles and skin.
