Janelle Hauserman, Ph.D., joined the NIAMS Intramural Research Program (IRP) as a scientific program manager in the Office of Scientific Operations (OSO) in December 2021.

During her graduate work at the University of Maryland, Baltimore, she was trained in biochemistry, molecular biology, and muscle biology under the mentorship of Dr. Aikaterini Kontrogianni-Konstantopoulos. Dr. Hauserman continued her postdoctoral training at the NIH in the National Institute for Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS) with Dr. Carsten Bönnemann. In NINDS, she spearheaded projects related to gene therapy and personalized antisense oligonucleotide therapy for rare (neuro)muscular diseases.

As a trainee, Dr. Hauserman always appreciated the support of her mentors and advisors, so after her postdoctoral fellowship, she pursued a position as a scientific program manager in the NIAMS OSO/Career Development and Outreach Branch (CDOB). She currently facilitates a broad range of programming for NIAMS IRP fellows and offers laboratory support services for investigators.
