Summary
Manasi Gadkari, M.S., received her bachelor’s degree in pharmacy from the University of Pune in India and her master’s degree in biotechnology from the University of Houston-Clear Lake. From 2011 to 2015, she was a Research Assistant in the Department of Pediatrics and the Department of Molecular and Human Genetics at Baylor College of Medicine (BCM) in Houston. As part of the Laboratory for Translational Genomics at BCM, she developed extensive expertise in next-generation sequencing technologies. From 2015 to 2019, she was a Research Associate at the Laboratory of Immune System Biology at the NIAID. There, she gained experience in the purification and culture of primary human cells, flow cytometry, molecular imaging for live cell tracking, single-molecule RNA FISH, and high-content imaging. She then joined the NIAMS in 2019.
Research Statement
Manasi’s research focuses on the application of advanced genomic and other technologies to the study of the effects of glucocorticoids on human immune and non-immune cells. Her research involves in vitro studies in primary human cells and in vivo studies with rhesus macaques, healthy human subjects, and patients with genetic disorders. She provides specialized scientific support, including developing assays and screening methods, training new lab members, and laboratory management.
