Summary
Ms. Nelson serves as a Senior Advisor at NIAMS.
From 2018 to 2022, she served as the Director of the Office of Extramural Operations, for which she oversaw the administrative operations of the extramural program, including grants management, peer review, and clinical trial management and operations. She also managed the NIH Guide for Grants and Contracts publication process and served as the Executive Secretary of the NIAMS National Advisory Council, overseeing Council operations.
Ms. Nelson joined NIAMS in September 1999 as the Deputy Grants Management Officer. The next year, she was promoted to become Chief Grants Management Officer.
Prior to coming to NIAMS, Ms. Nelson worked for 20 years in grants management at the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD).
