Summary
Dr. Sarthak Gupta is a board-certified adult rheumatologist. He received his medical degree from Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College, Aligarh, India, and completed a residency in Internal Medicine at the State University of New York at Buffalo. He then moved to NIAMS to pursue a three-year adult rheumatology fellowship in 2011 and also served as the chief fellow for the training program. During his fellowship, he worked on defining the spectrum of anticytokine autoantibodies in autoimmune diseases. On completion of his fellowship, Dr. Gupta was promoted to Henry Metzger Scholar and subsequently joined the Systemic Autoimmunity Branch at NIAMS, where he worked on understanding the sex differences in neutrophil biology in systemic autoimmune diseases. He has also been an investigator on several ongoing clinical trials using novel therapies in systemic autoimmune diseases. In 2018 he accepted the position of assistant research physician at NIAMS where he continues to pursue his interest in translational research and developing innovative interventional studies in autoimmune diseases.
Dr. Gupta is an active clinician and a core faculty for the rheumatology training program at NIAMS. He has also received numerous awards and grants for his research, including the Rheumatology Research Foundation's Scientist Development Award, the 34th European Workshop for Rheumatology Research Travel Award and the 2017 ACR/EULAR Exchange Program award.
