Dr. Sovira Tan received his doctorate from the University of Sussex and was a postdoctoral fellow at University College London.

His research focuses on extracting quantitative measurements from medical images. In particular, he has pioneered the measurement of syndesmophyte volume and height in ankylosing spondylitis from computed tomography (CT) scans.
