This study examines gene expression in human oral and skin at baseline (unwounded; day 1) and at days 3 and 6 of healing. Given that there are 6 groups, there are a number of interesting comparisons that are possible. As an example, we provide detailed instructions to determine differences between unwounded oral vs. skin (oral day 1 vs. skin day 1).

Data Analysis Instructions
1
Access the data on the GEO2R platform. The link opens in a new window.
GEO2R GSE976152
Click “Define groups” in the title bar.
Type in the name of the first group, “oral_day1”, and press enter.
Type in the name of the second group, “skin_day1”, and press enter.
3
Select all samples labeled “skin_day 1” in the Source name column. You can click and drag over multiple rows.
Click the group name “skin_day1” that you previously created, to link the samples to the group.Image4
Repeat Step 3, now selecting all “oral_day 1” samples. You may have to scroll down the page.
Click the “oral_day1” group name to link those samples to that group.Image5
Click the “Analyze” button at the bottom of the page.
6
After the analysis is complete, you should see a volcano, mean difference, UMAP, Venn, Box and other plots informing QC and differential expression results as well as a table of differentially expressed genes:
