The Office of Science and Technology (OST) is responsible for NIAMS Labs core facilities. It provides and develops new technologies, advises the Scientific Director, Lab and Branch Chiefs, and other key officials on science and technology. OST initiates collaborative, cooperative and service activities that facilitate the conduct of science and coordinates the core technological facilities of the Intramural Research Program.

Provides computational and bioinformatics approaches, such as next generation sequencing data analysis, and develop new data analysis algorithms and strategies.

Provides cellular analysis and cell sorting, including multi-parameter analysis, fluorescence resonance energy transfer, single cell sorting, and cytometric analysis of intracellular signaling events.

Provides veterinary care, animal ordering, protocol preparation, training, animal facility management, animal care monitoring, and coordination of rodent rederivation.
Section Chief: Evelyn Ralston, Ph.D.
Provides scientists access to state-of-the-art light imaging equipment, and provides support for the acquisition and analysis of images with various techniques of light microscopy.
Section Chief: Massimo Gadina, Ph.D.
Provides services, consultative advice, and in-depth instructions in a variety of immunologic methods to facilitate interpretation of immunoassays most relevant to a research study.

The Genomic Technology Section provides a diverse portfolio of sequencing services to help NIAMS investigators solve highly diverse biological and biomedical research questions.
